CMPS 17 – Social Networks

This page contains my slides for a Social Networks course that I taught in Fall 2014 and Winter 2015 at UC Santa Cruz. The course was a fun mix of graph theory, game theory, and probability. We used the textbook Networks, Crowds, and Markets by David Easley and Jon Kleinberg. My slides are based off of sections from the text. My favorite sections to teach were epidemics, evolutionary game theory, and traffic.

graph theory basics

networks and their surrounding context

strong and weak ties

positive and negative relationships

game theory basics

evolutionary game theory

traffic

auctions

information cascades

power law

small worlds

epidemics
